Switch between the song and the version without singing on the loudest phrase. The words should drop out. The low end should not.
The file as you uploaded it.
The same passage with the lead and the backing voices taken out.
Before a model could hear a voice, removing vocals meant a stereo trick or an EQ cut. Both damage the song.
Flipping one side and adding it to the other deletes whatever sits in the middle, which includes the kick, the bass, and the snare.
Cutting the vocal range also cuts the guitars and keys that live there, so the track sounds hollow.
There are no sides to cancel. The Audacity effect does nothing, and the singing stays.
Spectral editing works one syllable at a time. A whole song takes hours.
The voice is found by how it sounds, not by whether it was panned to the center.
Nothing is subtracted from the middle. Tools that remove vocals from song mixes by cancelling the center take the kick and bass with them.
A single-channel recording can lose its singing and still come back as mono.
The free preview is the upload you care about, so a bad split does not cost you the full song.
Studio songs are the easy case. These are the ones to preview carefully.
The tail can remain as a shadow after each line.
The crowd singing the hook, and the room around it, leave more of the voice behind.
A vlog or a podcast with a bed under the voice is a different job.
Three methods take singing out of a mix. They disagree about what else they remove.
| Compared on | Center cancelling | EQ cut | This page |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | Subtracts one side from the other | Cuts the vocal frequencies | Separates the voice by how it sounds |
| Bass and drums | Thinned or gone | Mostly kept | Kept |
| Guitars and keys | Kept if they sit off center | Hollow in the cut range | Kept |
| Mono songs | Does nothing | Works | Works |
| Where | Audacity and most DAWs | Any EQ | In the browser, nothing to install |

Thirty seconds is enough to tell whether the words are gone and the bass is still there.
The full WAV is deleted 24 hours after you uploaded.
Play or sing the part without the original vocal telling you what to do.
Use the groove of a song without the lyrics talking over your cues. A public performance still needs a music license.
A trailer or a slideshow where the sung lyric would clash with the picture.
Use this page when the singing itself is the problem. Other pages keep a different part of the same song.

The 30-second preview is free and needs no account. Processing the rest of the song uses minutes from a Pro plan or a minute pack.
Audacity’s Vocal Reduction and Isolation effect cancels the center of a stereo mix, so the bass and drums thin out, and a mono song is unchanged. This page keeps them.
Not here. Lead, harmony, and choir are removed together. The karaoke maker removes only the lead singer and keeps the harmonies.
From its soundtrack, if you have the rights to that file. Save the audio with the free extract tool, then upload it here. Pasting a link does nothing.
No. You get the song with the vocals removed. The vocal by itself is another upload on the acapella extractor, and that full download spends minutes again.
Removing the singing does not make the underlying song yours. You still need permission to publish or sell it.
