EraseNoise is a background noise remover that lowers door slams, knocks, and creaks behind the voice in an audio or video file. In our real door sample, naturalness went from 0.95 to 4.05 out of 5. Play the slam below, then try 30 seconds of your own recording at no cost.

Let the door recording play and flip between the raw take and the cleaned one at the slam. Then upload your file and go straight to the moment the door hit.
The door recording started with one of the lowest naturalness scores of the 24 we tested, 0.95, and ended at 4.05. Overall quality went from 1.82 to 2.80 and background from 2.17 to 4.02. A creaking chair, another short knock-and-creak sound, is next to it. Scores are DNSMOS and NISQA predictions on a 1–5 scale for real door-slam and related recordings from the Microsoft DNS Challenge test set, processed with no hand edits.
A door is short and loud. It drops best between words, and a slam on top of a word may leave that word rough.
Someone came home during the take. The slam drops, and the voice around it stays.
Hear the recordingWe have not tested knocking on its own. Knocks are short bursts like the slam we did test, so check one in the free preview.
We have not tested a hinge. A slow creak is close to the creaking chair we did test, where naturalness went from 3.01 to 4.59.
Remove chair noiseThe slam drops, but the word under it can sound clipped. Listen to that word in the preview.
A slam is one loud peak. Cutting it out by hand works once; EraseNoise handles every one in the file.
You do not scrub the timeline for every door. Upload the file once.
Nothing is cut, so the recording keeps its length and stays in sync with the video.
Hear the door recording above before you upload anything.
Cutting works when the door hits in a pause.
Cutting removes the word too. A cleanup lowers the slam and keeps the word.
A cut in the audio shifts the lips out of sync. The cleanup keeps every frame where it was.
A slam is one loud peak, so the right fix depends on where it lands.
| Option | Works best when | Falls short when |
|---|---|---|
| EraseNoise | Doors slam several times through a long take | A slam lands right on a word you need |
| Audacity Noise Reduction | Rarely: it is built for steady noise | The noise is a single sudden bang |
| Cutting in an editor | One slam falls in a pause in audio-only work | Cutting a video track throws the lips out of sync |
| Re-recording the line | The slam covered the key sentence | The interview or lecture cannot be repeated |
Use the file exactly as the recorder saved it, as long as it is under 2 GB.
A podcast or lecture track with a door in it downloads as WAV.
A video with a door slam in the soundtrack downloads as MP4 with the same picture.
Choose the audio or video file where a door slams, knocks, or creaks behind the voice.
Play the seconds around the slam, as recorded and then cleaned, without making an account.
Clean the full file only once the bang has faded and the words on either side are intact.
Doors open and close down the hall during the answer. Clean the clip and keep the take.
Someone came home halfway through the episode. Lower the slam instead of recording again.
Students arrive late and the classroom door bangs. Clean the lecture recording before you share it.
Use this page for slams, knocks, and creaks. A steady hum or other voices need a different page.

On a real door-slam recording from the Microsoft DNS Challenge test set, EraseNoise raised NISQA naturalness from 0.95 to 4.05 out of 5, from one of the lowest starting points of the 24 recordings we tested. The DNSMOS background score went from 2.17 to 4.02 and overall quality from 1.82 to 2.80.
The slam drops, but the word under it can sound rough. If that word matters, a retake of that line is the safe fix.
We tested a door slam, not knocking. Knocks are short bursts like a slam, so they likely drop the same way; check one in the free preview before you pay.
