Adobe Podcast Enhance Speech: What It Fixes and What It Does Not
Use Adobe's Enhance Speech on an audio or video file, then back off if the voice turns thin. Includes the current format, size, and plan limits.
Enhance Speech is the Adobe Podcast tool that cleans a voice recording after you have already made it. It is not a live mute button, and it is not a full editor. Upload the file, listen to the same sentence before and after, and keep the result only if the speaker still sounds like themselves.
Key Takeaways
- Enhance Speech accepts audio and video, and the download keeps the format you uploaded.
- Adobe's own guide says to start at the default amount and turn it down if the voice sounds robotic.
- The help center caps an Enhance Speech upload at 1 GB. The Premium plan page says up to 4 hours a day.
- A saved file that Enhance Speech cannot fix still needs a noise sample in Audition or Audacity, or a cleanup made for the whole file.
What Enhance Speech is for
Adobe's video guide describes Enhance Speech as a tool that removes background noise and makes dialogue clearer. It works on audio and on video, including talking-head clips, not only podcast audio. The same guide says the usual path is a few clicks: upload, process, then export the enhanced audio in sync with the picture. (Enhance Speech for video, updated June 19, 2025.)
Use it when one voice is fighting a steady room, a fan, or a little echo. Do not use it when you need to separate a song into vocals and music, repair a clipped recording, or change what people heard on a live call that was never recorded.

How to run it on a computer
Adobe's guide gives this desktop path:
- Open Adobe Podcast, sign in, and choose Tools, then Enhance Speech.
- Drag in the audio or video file.
- Wait for the upload and the processing to finish.
- Move the enhancement sliders if the default is too strong.
- Preview, then download.
The guide says the default amount is usually the right starting point. If the voice sounds robotic, turn the enhancement down. (Enhance Speech for video, updated June 19, 2025.)
On a phone, the same guide says you do not need an app. Open Adobe Podcast in the mobile browser, tap the menu, open Enhance Speech, choose the file, and download it when processing finishes. The guide also says enhanced files stay available for 10 days.
Which files it accepts
Adobe's technical requirements, last updated August 4, 2025, say Enhance Speech runs in current Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox on desktop and mobile. Studio, the separate podcast editor, is listed as Chrome on desktop only. (Adobe Podcast technical requirements, updated August 4, 2025.)
For Enhance Speech, that page lists:
| Kind | Formats | Largest upload |
|---|---|---|
| Audio | WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC | 1 GB |
| Video | MP4, MOV, M4V | 1 GB |
The download does not convert the format. An MP3 comes back as an MP3. A video comes back in the format you imported.
The Premium plan page, which now sits under Firefly Pro access, says Enhance Speech can take video such as MP4 and MOV, can upload files in bulk, can adjust speech, music, and ambience, and can enhance up to 4 hours a day with files up to 1 GB. (Adobe Podcast plans, retrieved 2026-10-16.) Check the page before you rely on a daily cap. Plan pages change.
When to leave Enhance Speech
Turn it down, or skip it, in these cases:
- The voice sounds metallic or smaller than the person who recorded it. Adobe's guide tells you to dial the slider back.
- The noise is a bark, a door, or someone else talking on top of the sentence. Enhance Speech is aimed at dialogue cleanup, not at cutting one overlapping sound out of a word.
- You need a noise-only sample and a measured reduction. Adobe Audition can capture a noise print from at least half a second of the unwanted sound. Audacity can do the same kind of profile for steady hiss.
- The file is larger than 1 GB. Split it or use another tool. EraseNoise accepts a video or audio file under 30 minutes and 500 MB on the video noise remover.
If the room rings after each word, noise reduction is the wrong control. Use echo removal.
A short way to choose
Enhance Speech is the fast path when you already have the file and you want Adobe to guess the cleanup. Audition and Audacity are the path when you can point at a stretch of the noise and you want to hear exactly what will be removed. A live Discord, Zoom, or Teams switch does not change a file that is already saved. Those controls belong in the Discord guide and the meeting-recording guide.
