Scrubbing made the biggest overall gain of the 24 recordings we tested: overall quality from 1.10 to 3.41, background from 1.17 to 4.20, and naturalness from 0.74 to 4.54. Scores are DNSMOS and NISQA predictions on a 1–5 scale for a real scrubbing recording from the Microsoft DNS Challenge test set, processed with no hand edits.
Scrubbing is a rough, repeating rasp. It drops well because it sounds nothing like a voice.
Washing up while talking. In our sample, the rasp dropped and the voice stayed natural.
Hear the recordingBrushes on tiles, carpets, or a car. We tested scrubbing at a sink, not these surfaces, but the rasp is the same kind of sound.
Any rough repeated rub, from hair brushing in ASMR-style clips to light sanding in a workshop.
A collar or a jacket rubbing a clip-on mic is close to the mic and can land on words. Check the preview.
A rasp changes with every stroke, so a single noise profile does not fit it. EraseNoise follows it.
You do not need a gap with only scrubbing in it. Upload the file as it is.
Our scrubbing sample went from 1.10 to 3.41 for overall quality, the biggest gain of the set.
A cleaning video comes back as MP4 with the same frames.
Listen to the words that land on a stroke.
Where a hard stroke covers a word, a trace may stay. Check one such sentence.
Rub right on the mic is louder than the voice. Fix the mic placement for the next take.
Scrubbing changes with every stroke, so a fixed filter struggles.
| Option | Works best when | Falls short when |
|---|---|---|
| EraseNoise | The narration runs over the scrubbing for minutes | A hard stroke lands right on a word |
| Audacity Noise Reduction | The scrubbing is very even and has a gap of its own | Each stroke sounds different |
| Cutting in an editor | You stop talking while you scrub | The tutorial explains the step while doing it |
| Recording narration separately | The cleaning video is shot first and narrated later | You want the live reaction on camera |
Upload the narration or the full video straight off the camera, up to 2 GB.
A narration track recorded while scrubbing comes back as WAV.
A cleaning or workshop video downloads as MP4 with the same picture.
Choose the audio or video file where scrubbing or brushing runs behind the voice.
Play a sentence spoken over a hard stroke, raw and cleaned, without signing in.
Process the full clip only if the rasp has dropped and the narration still sounds natural.
The narration is recorded while scrubbing. Keep the voice and lower the brush.
Brushes, pads, and sanding under the explanation. Clean the soundtrack and keep the shot.
A message recorded while washing up. Clean it before you send it on.

Cleaning videos and narration you upload are deleted, with their cleaned copies, 24 hours after upload, and none of them is published as a sample. Download yours inside that window.

On a real scrubbing recording from the Microsoft DNS Challenge test set, EraseNoise raised DNSMOS overall quality from 1.10 to 3.41 out of 5, the biggest overall gain of the 24 recordings we tested. The background score went from 1.17 to 4.20 and NISQA naturalness from 0.74 to 4.54.
We have not tested clothing rub. Light rubbing between words likely drops like scrubbing; rubbing right on the mic during a word can stay, so check the preview and fix the mic for the next take.
Yes. Cleaning and detailing videos in MP4, MOV, M4V, or WebM work, and the result is an MP4 with the footage left as it was.
Processing time depends on how long the cleaning video is: as a guide, a 5-minute video takes 10 to 60 seconds. The free 30-second preview of the cleaning video uses no paid minutes, so you can judge it first.
Files can be as large as 2 GB. You get 3 free 30-second previews in 24 hours without an account and 20 with one. Cleaning the whole video is billed in started minutes, never less than 1.
Upload one file. Keep the result only if the scrubbing is lower and the voice is unchanged.
